YWCA New Britain’s 25th Annual Evening of Treasures Auction was a sparkling success! Over 200 guests attended this signature event in their best bedazzled jeans to celebrate the “Denim & Diamonds” theme of the night.
The greenhouse at Farmington Gardens was filled with silent auction items of all kinds, from unique themed baskets to a diverse spread of items like an Apple TV, designer purses, and an ornately decorated Christmas tree. The silent auction had something for everyone, including gift cards to local restaurants, events, shows, concerts, and outings.
Guests also had the opportunity to bid on amazing live auction experiences such as a glamping trip in Maine, a 20-person wine tasting, a Nashville trip, tickets to see the Broadway show Come From Away with a stay at the Park Hyatt New York, and even a chance to get in the water with a Beluga whale at Mystic Aquarium.
Guests had a chance to take some pictures in a photo booth, taste an assortment of tequilas, smoke a hand-rolled cigar, and play the “Lift Your Spirits” instant win game. Those who played the Instant Win game were also automatically entered to win a real, genuine diamond!
The YWCA also held a cash raffle drawing at the event. Prior to the auction, volunteers and friends sold $20 raffle tickets for the chance to win one of three cash prizes. Thank you to everyone who sold and purchased raffle tickets, and congratulations to the winners!
YWCA board member Shannon Walsh chaired the event. She says, “This year’s Evening of Treasures was yet another fabulous event filled with unique auction items, creative outfits, and, best of all, a generous community. This event is our largest fundraiser of the year, and every bid or donation made helped to support the women and children of our community. We are incredibly thankful to all the attendees, the many volunteers and the members of the auction planning committee which helped make this evening possible.”
We’d also like to send a special thank you to our sponsors. Persimmon sponsors TD Bank and Webster Bank; Platinum sponsors Creed Monarch Inc., D&L Auto Body & Towing LLC, Gordon & Rees LLP, People’s United Bank, and Wheeler Clinic; Gold sponsors Associated Insurance Services and People’s United Insurance Agency; and Silver sponsors Central Connecticut State University, Downes Construction Co., Janney Montgomery Scott LLC, and New Britain Transportation Co.
The diamond-studded event raised over $68,000 for YWCA programs and services. Thank you to all of our staff and volunteers for making this event a huge success.
We hope to see everyone again for our 26th year in 2019!
