Christine Kuzia Dance Scholarship
In 2015, the YWCA School of Dance celebrated 30 years of annual recitals. It is hard to believe that over thirty years of dancers have learned the foundations of tap, jazz, ballet, and the discipline of dance with us. The heart and soul of the YWCA School of Dance is our incredible director, Christine Kuzia. “Miss Chris” as she is fondly known to everyone, has been with the YWCA for over 30 years, sharing her passion for dance and her indomitable spirit with thousands of students. With Miss Chris at the helm it is no wonder the YWCA School of Dance has been voted the “Best Dance Studio” in the area five years in a row by the New Britain Herald.
Inspiring leadership and self-discipline, in an environment that feels like family is also an art, and one not many people can master. One of the greatest testaments to Miss Chris is the number of her students that remain with the program to teach younger students and carry on the tradition and style of her teaching. Miss Chris has made sure that every student who wants to dance will have the opportunity, and that no one is left out due to financial reasons.
In honor of the 30th anniversary of the recital and as a special tribute to Miss Chris, the YWCA established the Christine Kuzia Dance Scholarship. The fund provides financial assistance for students who are dedicated to learning yet not able to pay the full amount for dance classes.
