Policies & Code of Conduct

Membership Cards:

All participants are required to swipe valid membership cards at the front desk prior to attending the gym or group exercise classes. Membership cards can be downloaded via our mobile app.

YWCA New Britain reserves the right to cancel any class or event if there is insufficient registration.

Gym membership cancellations must be made in person after contract obligations are fulfilled.  Cancellations for reason of relocation must include proof of permanent relocation further than 25 miles from YWCA New Britain.  This can include a new driver’s license, utility bill, or signed lease.  Members will be responsible for dues during the month of cancellation as well as the following month.  Members will be able to continue to utilize our services within that time frame.

Annual passes will automatically continue on a month-to-month basis until member fills out a cancellation form in person at YWCA New Britain.  If it is inconvenient to fill out a cancellation form in person, a certified letter stating your wish to cancel can be mailed to us at: 19 Franklin Square, New Britain, CT 06051, Attn: Valerie Cammarota.

Refund Policy:

A full refund will be given only if a class or event is cancelled due to insufficient registration.

Credit Policy for Withdrawing from a Class:

Before the first week of class, the member will be given a program credit minus a $5 processing fee.  Before the second week of class, the member will be given an 80% program credit minus a $5 processing fee.  Before the third week of class, the member will be given a 50% program credit minus a $5 processing fee.

No refund or credit is given for scheduled building closures.

Whenever possible, a make-up class or comparable class coupon will be issued for cancellations due to instructor illness or unscheduled building closures.

Pass fees are not refundable. Passes will be “frozen” for medical reasons only. A physicians’ note is required within one month of the initial illness, specifying exact dates of the required medical leave.

Code of Conduct:

It is expected that all members and guests will conduct themselves in keeping with the mission and values of YWCA New Britain.  The YWCA reserves the right to suspend or revoke privileges to those who exhibit behavior inconsistent with these ideals.

The YWCA offers free parking for members in our lot across from the courthouse at 19 Franklin Square.

Minors in Youth Sports Classes:

It is the policy that minors in any Youth Sports program (excluding YWCA team and pre-team activities) need to be accompanied by an adult, who stays in the building or on the premises at all times. The police will be called if children are not picked up from their designated class within 15 minutes of the scheduled end time.
